U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning threatening military action and economic sanctions if Tehran refuses to sign a new nuclear agreement. In an interview with NBC News, Trump made it clear that the U.S. is prepared to take drastic measures if negotiations fail.

"If they don't make a deal, there will be bombing," Trump said, adding that he may also reintroduce secondary tariffs against Iran. "There's a chance that if they don't make a deal, that I will do secondary tariffs on them like I did four years ago."

Trump’s stance is consistent with his earlier policy on Iran. During his first term from 2017 to 2021, he withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 nuclear agreement, which had imposed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for economic relief.

Western nations have expressed concerns that Tehran may be seeking nuclear weapons capabilities, given its enrichment of uranium beyond levels required for civilian energy production. Iran, however, insists that its program is entirely for peaceful purposes.

Recent diplomatic efforts have yet to yield a breakthrough. According to Iran’s media, Tehran recently responded to a letter from Trump, delivered via Oman, urging Iranian leaders to return to negotiations. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has not disclosed the specifics of Tehran’s response.

The U.S. and Iran have had a long history of strained relations, and Trump’s latest remarks have only added to the uncertainty. Military analysts warn that a U.S. strike on Iran could trigger wider regional instability, with possible retaliation from Iranian-backed groups across the Middle East. While diplomatic channels remain open, the window for a peaceful resolution appears to be narrowing.

As global tensions mount, all eyes are on Iran’s next move. Whether the country chooses to engage in negotiations or stand its ground, the outcome could have far-reaching consequences for international security and U.S.-Iran relations.
