US President Donald Trump has said he plans to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again at the G7 meeting of leading industrialized democracies in France.

Trump did not say whether other participants would also be present at the meeting.

Zelensky already took part in a group meeting of G7 countries on Tuesday morning. As he arrived at the summit, the Ukrainian president wrote on Telegram that strengthening Ukraine's air defences was Kiev's most important objective.

He added that diplomatic efforts were also needed to bring Russia's war to an end.

Trump said he had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, adding: "Russia should make a deal."

Following a framework agreement on a deal to end the war in Iran, the G7 countries want to get the stalled negotiations to end the war in Ukraine back on track. The United States, which is mediating between Moscow and Kiev, has recently taken a step back from efforts to end the Ukraine war as it focused on the war in Iran.
