President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that a framework agreement between the United States and Iran could be signed earlier than planned, possibly as soon as Thursday.
"The deal we reached with Iran on Sunday will be signed shortly, tomorrow, maybe the next day," Trump told reporters at the G7 summit in Évian, France.
He did not provide further details. The framework agreement, also described as a memorandum of understanding, had previously been expected to be signed on Friday.
Asked why he would not remain in Europe after the summit for the signing ceremony, Trump said he might do so after all.
Until now, Vice President JD Vance had been expected to travel to Switzerland to sign the agreement on behalf of Washington.
