Trump says Iran’s response to US peace talks to end war ‘totally unacceptable’

  • Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest ceasefire proposal as "TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!", offering no further details on the diplomatic setback.
  • Iran's proposal, conveyed via Pakistani mediators, reportedly sought a permanent end to hostilities, including in Lebanon, and guaranteed shipping security, contrasting with Washington's previous offer to end the war and roll back Iran's nuclear programme.
  • In a post on Truth Social, the US President shared: “I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Thank you for your attention to this matter”.
  • Despite the US President's strong rhetoric accusing Tehran of "playing games", the US ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, stated that diplomacy is being given "every chance".
  • Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, reportedly issued "new and decisive directives for the continuation of operations" during a meeting with the head of the joint military command.
