  • US President Donald Trump and India Prime Minister Narendra Modi have affirmed their personal relationship despite Washington imposing significant tariffs on Indian imports.
  • Trump described Modi as a “great prime minister,” saying “India and the United States have a special relationship” and there is “nothing to worry about.”
  • The US has levied a 50 per cent tariff on most Indian goods, including a 25 per cent penalty for purchasing Russian weapons and oil, which Washington links to financing Russia's war in Ukraine.
