President Trump claims the US received over 80 million barrels of Venezuelan oil after ousting Maduro and easing sanctions to boost production.
WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump said the United States has received more than 80 million barrels of oil from Venezuela since ousting its leader Nicolas Maduro.
Trump made the claim during his first State of the Union address of his second term.
“We just received from our new friend and partner, Venezuela, more than 80 million barrels of oil,” he said.
The president also stated that American oil production has increased by more than 600,000 barrels a day.
Trump ordered the seizure of socialist leader Maduro in January on allegations of drug trafficking and other crimes.
His administration has since eased oil sanctions on Venezuela in a bid to boost production.
