US President Donald Trump is set to undergo a medical check up on May 26 at the Walter Reed Military Hospital near Washington, the White House said on Monday.
The White House said that Trump would undergo "routine annual dental and medical assessments as part of his regular preventive health care."
In October, physician Sean Barbabella said that Trump had the heart and vascular system of a 65-year-old, despite the president being 79 years old, following what the president called a "semiannual physical." The president last had his annual physical in April 2025.
In the US, presidents regularly provide public information about their health status.
There has been repeated speculation about Trump's health, as images of bruises - some apparently covered with makeup - on his hands and swollen-looking legs were taken as recently as last weekend.
Trump, who is turning 80 in June, has explained the bruises as a result of frequent handshaking. The White House has cited the use of blood-thinning medication as a cause.
In July, the White House announced that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a harmless condition of the leg veins that occurs mainly in older people.
The health checks of Trump's predecessor, 83-year-old Joe Biden, also attracted attention during his presidential term. Biden had planned to run again in the 2024 election, but during the campaign experienced frequent lapses.
The concern about the Democrat's physical and mental fitness eventually led to Biden's withdrawal from the race. His vice president, Kamala Harris, ran in his place but lost the election to Trump.
In January, Biden left office as the oldest president in US history and was replaced by Trump, who at 78 became the oldest president to ever take office in the United States.
