US President Donald Trump is due to undergo a routine medical check-up at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington on Tuesday, according to the White House, his third such appointment in the past 13 months.

The White House said earlier this month that Trump would undergo "routine annual dental and medical assessments as part of his regular preventive health care."

In October, physician Sean Barbabella said that Trump had the heart and vascular system of a 65-year-old, despite the president being 79 years old, following what the president called a "semiannual physical." Trump, the oldest president to ever be inaugurated, last had his annual physical in April 2025.

US presidents traditionally release information about their health, although they are not legally required to do so.

There has been repeated speculation about Trump's health, as images of bruises - some apparently covered with makeup - on his hands and swollen-looking legs circulated online.

Trump, who turns 80 next month, has explained the bruises as a result of frequent handshaking. The White House has cited the use of blood-thinning medication as a cause.

In July, the White House announced that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a harmless condition of the leg veins that occurs mainly in older people.
