Former US president Donald Trump calls for a boycott of Bruce Springsteen, attacking the singer’s concerts and appearance in a social media rant.

WASHINGTON: Donald Trump has called on his supporters to boycott Bruce Springsteen in a social media tirade.

The former president launched the attack against the rock icon, who is a vocal critic of Trump’s immigration policies.

Trump described Springsteen as “a dried up prune who has suffered greatly from the work of a really bad plastic surgeon.”

He urged his right-wing followers to avoid the singer’s concerts, which he called “overpriced” and claimed “suck.”

The 79-year-old made the comments in a post on his Truth Social platform. Springsteen has been a major figure in US rock music for over five decades and has won 20 Grammy Awards.

He has been outspoken in his opposition to Trump’s push for mass deportations of undocumented migrants. The immigration raids, often conducted by masked agents, have sparked widespread anger but remain popular with Trump’s core base.

On Saturday, Springsteen headlined a “No King’s” rally in Minneapolis. Organisers estimated around 200,000 people attended the event in the city, which has been a recent protest flashpoint.

In January, the veteran singer released the song “Streets of Minneapolis” in response to the crackdown. The song references an incident where masked immigration agents shot and killed two protesting US citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Springsteen’s lyrics refer to the immigration agents as “King Trump’s private army.”
