Tube strike warning as London Underground drivers set to walk out again

  • London Underground services are expected to face significant disruption next week due to fresh strikes by members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union.
  • RMT union members, specifically Tube drivers, will stage 24-hour walkouts commencing from 12 noon on Tuesday, May 19, and again on Thursday, May 21.
  • Transport for London (TfL) anticipates that while most Tube lines will operate some service, there will be considerable disruption, with varying service levels throughout the week and early finishes on strike days.
  • During the industrial action, alternative transport options such as buses, the DLR, Elizabeth line, London Overground, and trams will run as normal but are expected to be exceptionally busy.
  • The dispute stems from the union's rejection of proposed changes to the working week, with further industrial action planned for June if a resolution is not reached.
