KUDAT: A sand tugboat worker died after falling overboard near Pantai Bangau, Sikuati, on Thursday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Mohd Azman Idris, 31, is believed to have fallen while reconnecting a broken anchor rope in rough seas.

Kudat Fire and Rescue Station chief Darickson Galanang said 12 personnel, led by Rasidi Sadai, rushed 39km to the scene with a fire engine, EMRS unit and utility vehicle following a distress call at 4.46pm.

Medical personnel confirmed Azman’s death at the scene, while the two survivors received initial treatment before the victim’s body was handed to police for further action.
