Tulfo welcomes US envoy, seeks stronger cooperation on energy, jobs

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Erwin Tulfo welcomed United States Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Lipton on Sept. 30, thanking the US government for its continued assistance to Filipinos affected by calamities and discussing opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Tulfo, who chairs the Senate committees on Social Justice, Welfare and Rural Development, Energy, and Blue Ribbon, and serves as vice chair of the Senate Foreign Relations panel, said he and Lipton also explored potential US investments in the Philippines.

Among the areas discussed were renewable energy and job creation, as the Philippines seeks to expand its energy capacity while generating more employment opportunities.

During the meeting, Tulfo expressed appreciation for the United States' continued support for Filipinos during disasters and calamities, underscoring the importance of sustained cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen economic ties and encourage investments that could benefit local communities and workers.
