Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is always known to be vocal in expressing his concern regarding the government. On Saturday, after the conclusion of the Bersama Tun M: Dialog Sepetas Perjuangan Yang Hilang? program at the Little Townhall, Yayasan Kepipinan Perdana (YKP) in Putrajaya, he once again gives his two cents regarding the current government.
According to Sinar Daily, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad claimed in his latest attack on the government that he believes Malaysia could become like Singapore after the 17th General Elections (GE17) because Malays no longer dominate the nation's economy their political power is dwindling.
According to the former prime minister and new Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) advisor, there is no guarantee that the next Prime Minister will be Malay.
“The present government may make adjustments in the upcoming elections to reduce the number of Malay constituencies while boosting the number of non-Malay constituencies. To some extent, this circumstance will disrupt the structure of the incumbent government in GE16 and the issue will become worse in GE17. There is no certainty that the Prime Minister will be a Malay as anyone can be the Prime Minister. Even now, the Malay parties in the government are separated into three parties," he explained.
Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad appeared on stage alongside former Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Zuraida Kamarudin and former Selangor Umno chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar for the first time.
Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, a former Langkawi member of Parliament, stated that he believes the country may be mortgaged if Malays do not exercise caution in selecting a leader who sincerely fights for Malays.
As a result, he urged Malays to set aside their own interests and political parties in order to reclaim power in their nation.
He emphasized that the Malays prioritize the Malay fight in order for them to choose their own fate in this country.
"Our fate is now dictated by others, and we do not get what we desire. There is no longer any unity among Malays " He stated.
