Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, a former prime minister, urged Malaysians, in particular, to collaborate to fight foes with ‘hidden motives’. Although no names have been mentioned, it is understood that they are referring to the current government.
According to Sinar Harian, the Selangor National Alliance (PN) chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, addressed the issue after visiting Dr Mahathir and his wife, Tun Siti Dr Hasmah Mohamad Ali, on Sunday evening with his wife, Datin Seri Shamsidar Taharin.
The opinion was expressed following a discussion on several current issues, explained Mohamed Azmin.
"Tun also gave me insight into the country's current political situation. Aside from concerns about the economy and the expense of living, Tun asked Malays to band together to battle opponents with hidden agendas.
“Shida and I were served a variety of Raya specialities for over an hour, including ketupat, impit rice, chicken rendang, buah rojak, tauchu vermicelli, and lai chi kang beverages. Thank God, Tun will celebrate his 98th birthday and Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali's 97th the following week.
"May Allah SWT continue to protect and bless them," he prayed. "Thanks be to Allah SWT for blessing them both with good health." said The Selangor National Alliance (PN) chairman.
Tun Dr Mahathir has a solid international reputation, according to Azmin, who also noted that he has been invited to participate in numerous programs abroad.
The former Langkawi member of parliament's business trips to Bosnia, the United Kingdom, and Turkey, he continued, served as proof of this.
"Based on the knowledge and accomplishments gained from organizing the KL Summit, Turkey has requested Tun's help and wants to collaborate with Tun to make the Istanbul Summit a success.
"The warm welcome Tun received during this visit demonstrates that the world still respects his views on the various challenges confronting today's global society," he said.
