Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is urging the individual who accused him of bribing the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to present evidence, describing the allegations as baseless.
In a Facebook post, Dr Mahathir criticized the person for hiding their identity while spreading these allegations. Addressing the accusation of bribing the Agong with RM500 million to RM1 billion, Dr Mahathir challenged the person to prove their claim. He pointed out the cowardice of making such a statement without revealing one's identity.
Additionally, he questioned whether the accuser had any proof that the Agong accepted such a large sum of money from him. Dr Mahathir also sarcastically remarked that if the accuser believes he has that much money to bribe, they should prove it, just as Anwar Ibrahim failed to do when claiming Dr Mahathir had billions of ringgit. Highlighting the actions of Anwar's Senior Political Secretary, Dr Mahathir commented on the ban on discussing the removal of the Prime Minister, stating that it restricts important discussions and stifles freedom.
He cynically alluded to a government led by a person who once advocated for reform and freedom but now limits the scope of conversation. In expressing his stance, Dr Mahathir raises valid points regarding the accusations made against him. He challenges the individual to provide evidence to support their claim and questions the motive behind hiding one's identity when making serious allegations.
By demanding proof and calling out the previous failure to substantiate similar claims, the former prime minister highlights the importance of accountability and transparency in such matters. Dr Mahathir also draws attention to the restrictions placed on discussing certain topics within the political landscape. He criticizes the ban on discussing the removal of the Prime Minister, suggesting that it curtails essential dialogue and undermines the principles of freedom and reform previously advocated.
Through his statements, Dr Mahathir aims to defend his reputation against baseless allegations while also questioning the motives and credibility of those behind such claims. By clearly expressing his dissatisfaction and cynicism, he seeks to address the issue and shed light on the importance of evidence and accountability in public discourse.
Dr Mahathir is standing up for himself and demanding evidence to support the allegations made against him. He questions the credibility of the anonymous accuser and challenges past claims that failed to provide proof. While sarcastically highlighting the limitations on political discussions, he emphasizes the need for transparency and open dialogue in such matters.
