FORMER Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is continuing treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) following a fractured hip caused by a fall on January 6 at his residence.
After discussing with specialist doctors from IJN, HUKM and HKL, it was decided that physiotherapy treatment without surgery is the best option for him.
“Taking into account Dr Mahathir's age, this recovery process will take quite a long time.
“Dr Mahathir and his family take this opportunity to thank everyone for their concern and prayers for his health and well-being,” read a statement from his office.
At this time, Dr Mahathir is not allowed to receive visitors, except for immediate family. – January 10, 2026
