LAHAD DATU: The Tungku sub-districts will obtain full district status, if Parti Warisan manages to take back the reins of the state government in the coming state election.

Its President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said Tungku has a lot of existing potential and more to be explored.

He said this matter had long been planned and the full district status would allow development to be carried out in the area.

“I suggested that Tungku is no longer a sub-district and upgraded to full district status, development could be carried out there.

“When I passed by Tungku areas yesterday, I saw a lot of plantation companies there. A lot of investment there, of course, development can be implemented there,” he said, when met after the breaking of fast at Masjid Raudah on Sunday.

At the ceremony, organised by the Segama and Silam Warisan Division, Shafie also presented contributions to the Asnaf group.

On Saturday, Shafie also officiated the breaking of fast organised by Tungku Warisan at Masjid Daerah Tungku.

Shafie said Warisan would be contesting “solo” in the coming state election.

The party is determined to be able to put Sabah and the people in the right path.

Earlier in his speech, Shafie stressed the importance of unity among the people and called on the people to stop raising issues that could lead to disunity, especially involving the 3R (Race, Religion and Royalty).
