
TUNIS: Tunisian President Kais Saied met Thursday with visiting Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and the two discussed bilateral ties and cooperation.
During the meeting, Saied stressed Tunisia’s desire to further strengthen and diversify relations with Indonesia in economic, cultural, and scientific sectors, according to a statement by the Tunisian presidency, reported Xinhua.
The president also highlighted the importance of updating the legal framework regulating bilateral relations and developing the ties in a way that could inject stronger impetus into bilateral cooperation, read the statement.
For her part, Marsudi expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation, consultation and coordination, stressing Indonesia’s keenness to further develop these strong ties, especially in the areas of common interest, including trade exchange, phosphate export, women’s empowerment and defence.
She also extended an invitation to Saied to visit Jakarta on behalf of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.–Bernama-Xinhua
