A Twitter user claims that Zayn Rayyan was murdered by his own family for being a burden. In the now-deleted Twitter post and account, a user had this to say about the murder of Zayn Rayyan, “Family tu juga yang bunuh, dah bebai kot jaga anak autism” which when translated to English is this, “The family (of Zayn Rayyan) is the one who murdered him, they must have grown fed up, ('bebai' is a word in Kedah Malay; it means hot-headed or grumpy in English) having to take care of an autistic kid.”
In case you don't know who Zayn Rayyan is, he is a 6-year-old autistic boy who has gone missing since 12.30 pm on 5th of December 2023 (Tuesday). He was later found dead on 6th of December, in a river that was about 200 meters away from his home in Idaman Apartments.
In a shocking turn of events, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the autopsy revealed that Zayn Rayyan sustained injuries on his neck and body. The case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, meaning it is being investigated for murder.
On the 9th of December 2023, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan further added that a thorough investigation shall be conducted which includes mass screenings of fingerprint data involving individuals with criminal records, including groups involved in sexual offenses. The police also hope that the fingerprint and DNA evidence found during the autopsy of Zayn Rayyan can help identify the murderer in question.
To add to the investigative efforts, the police have also brought in four K-9 units to search the area where Zayn Rayyan's body was found. This is in hopes of finding new leads that can lead to the identification and arrest of the murderer. The police have also spoken to the residents of the area to hand over dashcam footage on the day of the incident (5th of December 2023). It seems that the police have taken every initiative to leave no stone unturned in the case of Zayn Rayyan's murder.
Seeing how the public (including the family of Zayn Rayyan) is saddened by the murder of Zayn Rayyan, it is distasteful and insensitive for the Twitter user to have posted that remark on Twitter. It is a time of mourning not only for the family of Zayn Rayyan but for the nation as well.
We hope the murderer involved in the case will be found and brought to justice soon.
