Two 11-year-old children are feared drowned after going missing near a dam in Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang, with search and rescue efforts underway

JOHOR BAHRU: Two 11-year-old children are feared drowned after they were reported missing in the area of a dam at Jalan Murai 2, Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang here last night.

Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) operation commander, Senior Fire Officer I Haizrul Rahmad, said four personnel were rushed to the scene after the department received an emergency call at about 10.36 pm.

He said upon arrival, the operation response team found that there were indeed two victims, who were children reported missing since the afternoon.

“The victims’ father informed us that they were feared to have drowned in the dam area after a bicycle and slippers belonging to the victims were found at the scene.

“The team immediately launched a search and rescue operation in the area,” he said in a statement last night.

He said the search and rescue operation was still underway.
