Two of the six Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Members of Parliament who have declared their support for the Prime Minister are ready to take all necessary measures if asked to vacate their seats.
Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, the Member of Parliament for Labuan, and Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, the Member of Parliament for Bukit Gantang, stated that they, along with other Bersatu MPs involved, would take the matter to court if necessary.
They also emphasized that they would not change their stance in expressing support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"My goal is very clear. I need MP allocations to help my voters. I won because of the people, not because of the (Bersatu) President, the Supreme Council, or the Secretary-General.
"The people voted for me, and they are my priority," said Suhaili when contacted on Monday. He mentioned that the allocations received helped him greatly, including providing immediate assistance to residents who suffered house destruction due to fire.
In the meantime, Suhaili urged Bersatu leaders to set aside their egos and discuss an agreement with the Federal Government, similar to when Pakatan Harapan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government in 2021.
"Now it's Ramadan, and soon Hari Raya, for representatives to face the people who voted for them. Are we going to give them the same story (no provision)? People are tired of hearing this kind of excuse," said Suhaili.
Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz expressed the same position, insisting that he would not change his stance.
"However, I will not change my position," he said, adding that he pledged to support the Prime Minister because he was confident that Anwar could bring about change in Malaysia.
He said that the amendments approved by Bersatu recently could not prevent more Perikatan Nasional members of Parliament from supporting the Prime Minister, indicating that the support could happen not only at the parliamentary level but also at the State Assembly (DUN).
Besides Suhaili and Syed Abu Hussin, four other Bersatu MPs who took the same action are Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), and Datuk Dr Zulkaperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang).
On March 6, Klang Straits assemblyman from Bersatu, Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari, declared his support for the Selangor Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is the Vice President of PKR.
Bersatu had previously, on March 2, amended its constitution to automatically revoke the membership of any representative who switched allegiance to the opposing party.
Meanwhile, the media reported that former Bersatu Supreme Council Member, Dr Muhammad Faiz Na'aman, believes that more leaders and pioneering members of the party at all levels will join PKR.
Muhammad Faiz, who confirmed his entry into PKR on Monday, said the development might be more significant when Bersatu holds elections expected to take place later this year.
"I can say here that the support declared for the leadership of the Selangor Menteri Besar by Abdul Rashid is an early sign of this shift in support.
"As the party elections are approaching, I am confident that individuals who have contributed greatly to the party will find themselves marginalized due to the movement of 'cartel' factions, ultimately leading to a large wave of dissent at all levels against Bersatu," he said.
