Two charged with murder of Cyberjaya university student

PETALING JAYA: Two 19-year-old’s have been charged at the Sepang magistrate’s court in connection to the death of a University of Cyberjaya student who was killed last month.

According to New Straits Times, M. Sri Darvien, an odd job worker, was charged with the murder of Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

His co-accused, student D. Thineswary, was charged with abetting Darvien in committing the murder, under Section 109 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 302.

Both nodded to indicate their understanding after the charge was read before Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani.

However, no plea was recorded as the cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Darvien is alleged to have committed the offence between 9.11pm and 11.31pm on June 23 at Block A, Mutiara Ville Cyberjaya, Persiaran Multimedia in Cyberjaya while Thineswary is alleged to have committed the abetment offence at 12.30pm on the same day and location.

Deputy public prosecutor Raja Zaizul Farida Raja Zaharudin stated that the prosecution was not offering bail.

The case was fixed for mention on September 11.
