Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah detained two civil servants for allegedly submitting documents containing false particulars to claim about RM30,000 in allowances for security patrol and disaster monitoring duties.
The two men, in their 30s and 40s, were detained at about 10am on Sept 17 when they appeared to give statements at the MACC Lahad Datu branch office.
Preliminary investigations found that the two are suspected of acting in concert in committing the alleged offences between 2022 and 2023.
Sabah MACC Director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
Both suspects are expected to be charged at the Tawau Special Corruption Court on Sept 24.
