
TWO men, including a 27-year-old Pakistani national, died and six others sustained injuries after the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were travelling in veered off the road in Dungun, Terengganu, on Monday morning.
Dungun District Police Chief, Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir, said the accident occurred at 7.34am at Kilometer 3 on Jalan Paka-Bandar Al Muktafi Billah Shah. Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Zahir, 21, and Siraj Noman, 27, suffered severe bodily injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Six others, including one local resident and five foreign nationals aged between 30 and 40, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Dungun Hospital.
“During the incident, all the victims were travelling from Kampung Nyior to Santong in Paka for electrical wiring project work,” Superintendent Maizura said.
The Toyota Avanza MPV reportedly lost control while negotiating a bend, veering off to the left and colliding with a lamp post.
She added that fire and rescue personnel took approximately 15 minutes to extricate the two trapped victims before handing the deceased over to police for further action.
The accident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - December 29, 2025
