Two delivery drivers charged with trafficking 579kg of drugs in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: Two delivery drivers were charged in the Magistrate’s Court in Kota Kinabalu on Friday with three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs involving a total of 579.22 kilogrammes.

Fung Pun Fui and Leong Sik Siang, both aged 42, appeared before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin via Zoom.

No plea was recorded as the case will be transferred to the High Court.

They are accused of jointly trafficking methamphetamine found in a Toyota van and a house in Penampang at about 4.10pm on Jan 20.

They also face charges for trafficking another batch of methamphetamine and MDMA at the same location and time.

The offences carry the death penalty or life imprisonment with 12 strokes of the cane.

The court fixed March 31 for mention pending the Chemist’s reports.
