Two company directors face multiple bribery charges totalling RM2.4 million for allegedly securing data centre project tenders.

SHAH ALAM: Two company directors pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to multiple counts of offering bribes totalling over RM2.4 million.

The charges relate to securing subcontractor tenders for data centre projects in 2024 and 2025.

Seow Kian Ang, 52, faces four counts of giving RM338,000 each on separate occasions.

The director of a security systems firm allegedly offered the bribes to a company’s contract manager via an intermediary.

The money was an inducement to help his company secure a tender for a security system project.

The project covered design, planning, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, warranty and comprehensive maintenance.

Meanwhile, Yong Chun Jiat, 37, was charged with six counts of giving cash bribes.

The former director of an electrical contracting company allegedly offered sums of RM100,000, RM96,000, RM154,000, RM150,000, RM150,000 and RM400,000.

These payments were allegedly made to the same contract manager.

They were an inducement to assist his company in obtaining a tender for electrical low-voltage works.

Seow is alleged to have committed the offences in Bandar Sunway and Ara Damansara between August 1, 2024 and July 10, 2025.

Yong allegedly committed his offences in Bandar Sunway, Ara Damansara, and Temasya Square, Glenmarie between August 5, 2024 and May 18, 2025.

The charges were framed under Section 16(b)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.

Upon conviction, they are punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of not less than five times the bribe amount or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Ezlin Yusop Khan requested bail be denied.

She proposed that if granted, it should be set at RM500,000 each with one surety.

Judge Datuk Mohd Nasir Nordin set bail at RM100,000 each with one surety for both accused.

He imposed additional conditions requiring them to surrender their passports to the court and refrain from interfering with witnesses.

The court fixed March 16 for the re-mention of the case.

Seow was represented by lawyer Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent, while Datuk N. Sivananthan appeared for Yong.
