A fuel tanker carrying 32,000 litres of fuel crashed into a car on Jalan Temerloh-Triang, with two occupants feared burnt in the resulting fire.

KUANTAN: A fuel tanker carrying 32,000 litres of diesel and petrol crashed into a car at KM9 Jalan Temerloh-Triang today, causing both vehicles to burst into flames, with two occupants of the car feared burnt.

Temerloh police chief ACP Mohd Nasyim Bahron said police received information from the public on the incident at about 4.30 pm.

“Initial investigations found that the tanker, travelling from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan to Temerloh, was believed to have lost control and entered the opposite lane before crashing into the car.

“The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire. However, the 37-year-old tanker driver managed to escape and suffered only minor injuries,” he said when contacted.

Mohd Nasyim said the identities and number of victims in the car had yet to be confirmed due to the condition of the wreckage, while firefighting operations took time as the incident involved fuel.

He said the tanker driver would be detained to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
