LAHAD DATU: Two foreign nationals suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and abuse were arrested in separate operations in the district.
District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau, said the first suspect was detained on October 8 during an operation in the Kampung Teliwas area.
During the operation, officers from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division noticed a man acting suspiciously and moved in to investigate.
“When approached, the suspect attempted to flee but was successfully apprehended. A search found a plastic package labelled ‘Power Strip High Grade’, which contained a translucent packet with substances believed to be Syabu, weighing 51.43 grammes,” said Jimmy.
The 44-year-old suspect also tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
In a second raid on the same day at 11.50pm, police arrested another suspect, 41, along Jalan Silabukan.
An inspection revealed a translucent plastic packet containing 6.48 grams of suspected Syabu. The suspect also tested positive for drug use.
“The total seizure of 57.91 grammes of Syabu is estimated to be worth RM6,370.10,” Jimmy added.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
