KOTA MARUDU: Two semi-permanent houses were destroyed in a fire at Kg Batu 4, Jalan Sabit, here, on Sunday morning.
The alarm was raised at 8.28am and firefighters from Kota Marudu station arrived nine minutes later to find both homes already engulfed in flames.
No casualties were reported, but one of the houses belonged to Senior Fire Officer Thaddeus Boinon, who serves in Zone 3, Kudat.
Twenty personnel controlled the fire by 9.17am, using four hose jets with water from a tanker.
The operation, which also involved police and Sabah Electricity staff, was concluded at 10.30am.
