Two start-ups from Jalandhar received seed funding support under the Punjab government’s startup promotion initiative during the Startup Punjab Seed Funding programme held at the Municipal Bhawan, Chandigarh.

Startup mentor and company secretary CS Gaurav Thakur was also present at the event and congratulated both startups on their achievement.

Thakur, who mentors both startups, stated that one of the startups is working in the field of Indian video-sharing platforms, while the other is driving innovation in science education by developing modern learning solutions for students. He said that both startups have achieved this milestone through their innovative ideas, strong business models and dedicated efforts.

He emphasised that proper mentorship, investment readiness, regulatory compliance and access to government support schemes play a crucial role in the success of any startup. The seed funding assistance provided by the Punjab government is enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into successful businesses.

Thakur further informed that the Punjab government has increased the seed grant assistance for start-ups from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. In addition, eligible start-ups that meet the prescribed criteria would be entitled to receive up to Rs 10 lakh in additional support during the second phase, helping them scale their operations and generate employment opportunities.

Appreciating the efforts of the Punjab government and Startup Punjab, he said that such initiatives are playing a significant role in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and self-reliance across the state.
