Two killed in three-vehicle crash involving cars and bus in Baling

TWO drivers were killed in a fatal road accident involving two cars and a bus at Kampung Batu 7, Binjul, along the Jalan Baru Kulim/Baling/Gerik highway in Baling, Kedah earlier today.

Baling district police chief Superintendent Brandon Richard Joe said police received an emergency call at 6.20am from members of the public reporting a serious collision involving two cars and a bus.

Preliminary investigations by traffic police at the scene found that the crash involved a Perodua Myvi driven by a 23-year-old local woman travelling from Pulai, Baling towards Kulim, a bus driven by a 47-year-old local man travelling in the same direction, and a Proton Saga driven by a 26-year-old man travelling from the opposite direction, from Kulim towards Gerik.

"As a result of the accident, the two victims, namely the drivers of the Perodua Myvi and Proton Saga, sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were sent to the Forensic Unit of Baling Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

"Another passenger in one of the cars was injured and was taken to the same hospital for further treatment," he said in a statement today.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, which carries a penalty of between two and 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of RM5,000 to RM20,000 upon conviction.

Earlier reports had indicated that two people were killed and another injured in the crash involving two cars at the same location. - June 2, 2026
