
SANDAKAN: A 31-year-old man was seriously injured after two lorries collided at Jalan Sakilan Desa, Mile 21, early Monday.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jimmy Lagung said the department received a call at 5.02am and arrived at the scene, 34 kilometres away, at 5.39am.
“Firemen found the victim trapped in a fertiliser lorry after it crashed with an oil tanker and used special equipment to free him.
“He was rescued at 7.35am, given initial treatment by the emergency medical team and sent to hospital in an ambulance,” he said.
The operation, involving seven firemen and assisted by police and Health Ministry personnel, ended at 7.46am after the area was declared safe.
