Amir Anuar: Two lorry drivers were detained after a dashcam video allegedly showing them driving dangerously along Jalan Apas between Semporna and Tawau went viral on social media.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the incident was believed to have occurred at about 3.52pm on Aug 29, with preliminary investigation showing one of the Isuzu lorries allegedly overtaking several vehicles dangerously and nearly hitting a motorcycle.
He said the 34-second video began circulating on social media on Sept 17 and police received a report at 9.58pm before tracing and detaining both drivers about an hour later.
Both drivers tested negative for drugs and the case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
Rosdi said police are also tracing the owner of the Facebook account which uploaded the video and urged witnesses to contact investigating officer Sgt Razlan Razan at 019-823 4484.
