Police arrest two local men for stealing a Honda EX5 motorcycle at Mekarsari Flat, with both suspects testing positive for methamphetamine
KEPALA BATAS: Two local men have been arrested in connection with the theft of a motorcycle at the Mekarsari Flat.
Seberang Perai Utara police chief ACP Anuar Abd Rahman said a report was lodged last Monday after a Honda EX5 was stolen from the flat’s parking area.
“The motorcycle was found locked, but no extra key was used,” he said in a statement.
CCTV footage confirmed the theft was committed by local individuals, leading to the arrests after police intelligence and surveillance.
Anuar noted one suspect had a prior criminal record for drug offences, while the other had no previous convictions.
Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine in urine screenings conducted by police.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft.
The suspects are expected to be remanded at the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court. – Bernama
