Police in Kuching arrest two local men and seize 7.66kg of drugs worth RM328,000, including syabu and ketamine, in a major bust.

KUCHING: Police have arrested two local men and seized various drugs weighing 7.66 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of RM328,173.50.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspects, aged 42 and 38, were arrested in an operation last Thursday.

The seized drugs consisted of 5.66 kg of syabu, 1.82 kg of ketamine, 0.12 kg of Erimin 5 pills and 0.06 kg of ecstasy.

Alexson stated the haul could supply approximately 32,570 addicts.

Initial investigations revealed the 42-year-old suspect acted as a storekeeper and courier.

The 38-year-old suspect was responsible for receiving and storing the drugs before distribution around Kuching.

“The 42-year-old suspect is believed to have received instructions from an accomplice before delivering the drugs to customers,” Alexson said.

Urine tests showed the older suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

The younger suspect tested positive for benzodiazepine-type drugs.

Both suspects are on a seven-day remand starting January 9 to assist investigations.

The case is being probed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
