- Two men tragically died after entering the sea at Seaton Carew beach near Hartlepool on Sunday to rescue two children who had got into difficulty.
- Emergency services, including Cleveland Police, the RNLI, Coastguard, and North East Ambulance Service, were called to the incident at 3.45pm.
- The men were pulled from the water by RNLI staff and received immediate medical treatment but were both pronounced dead a short time later.
- The two children involved were taken to hospital for checks and are now safe, according to authorities.
- Police confirmed the deaths are not being treated as suspicious, and the RNLI issued a warning about open water risks, advising people to 'Float to Live'.
