- Border Force official Peter Wai and retired Hong Kong police officer Bill Yuen have been convicted of assisting a foreign intelligence service for China on British soil.
- The dual Chinese-British nationals were found guilty under the National Security Act following a trial at the Old Bailey.
- Wai, who also served as a City of London Police special constable, was additionally convicted of misconduct in public office for searching Home Office computer systems for individuals of interest to Hong Kong authorities.
- Their 'shadow policing' operations targeted Hong Kong dissidents, pro-democracy protesters, and British politicians, including senior Tory MP Sir Iain Duncan Smith.
- The defendants were remanded into custody for a further hearing on 15 May, after the jury failed to reach a verdict on a foreign interference charge related to an alleged attempt to snatch Monica Kwong from her Pontefract home.
