Pendang MP Awang Hashim and Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan ordered out for 30 minutes after verbal altercation during budget proceedings.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two members of parliament were ejected from the Dewan Rakyat today following a heated exchange that disrupted budget proceedings.

Pendang MP Datuk Awang Hashim of Perikatan Nasional and Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan of Pakatan Harapan were ordered to leave for 30 minutes by Deputy Speaker Alice Lau Kiong Yieng.

The chaos erupted during the committee-stage debate on the Supply Bill 2026 for the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

Lau directed both MPs to leave after they refused to cease their verbal altercation, which continued to disrupt parliamentary proceedings.

“I order Pendang and Hulu Langat to leave the House for 30 minutes,” she declared during the session.

The deputy speaker specifically instructed them not to “invite each other to fight in the Dewan” and to “stop spreading accusations.”

She also ordered the Dewan Rakyat Bentara to escort both parliamentarians out of the chamber.

The confrontation began when Mohd Sany interrupted Suhaizan Kaiat’s (PH-Pulai) debate session.

Mohd Sany suggested that opposition MPs should attend counselling sessions due to their alleged habit of spreading false accusations.

Awang immediately rose to rebuke Mohd Sany, describing the claim as slander and a violation of the Dewan Rakyat’s Standing Orders.

The nearly four-minute disruption forced Suhaizan to halt his budget debate presentation.

Lau subsequently allowed the Pulai MP an additional three minutes to complete his interrupted debate session.
