LAHAD DATU: Two government retirees were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah over claims amounting to RM6,000 that allegedly contained false details.

The men, both in their 60s, were detained around 11am on Wednesday while giving their statements at the MACC Lahad Datu office.

Investigations showed the alleged offences took place in 2021 when they were serving in a state government agency.

The pair were accused of submitting claims for area cleaning and coconut planting projects worth RM6,000 that were never carried out.

Sabah MACC Director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrests and said the case is being probed under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, with charges expected soon.
