
Kota Kinabalu: Two State tenpin bowlers made it to the podium at the Kuala Lumpur Open 2023 which concluded at the Megalanes Endah Parade, Sri Petaling on Saturday.
Nevern Nethaneel Marcellinus finished in joint second place with Mohd Hazim Ali Khanafiah from Kuala Lumpur after both knocked down 1,837 pins in the men’s open category.
The title as expected went to national number one Rafiq Ismail who led from start to finish with a high 2,014 total pins.
Meanwhile, Nur Jeehan Iezzaty competing in the girls Under-25 open category with 1,587 pin drops came in third behind Sarawak’s Nur Hazirah (1,685) and Nur Nadia Karmila (1,619) from Penang.
They received their prizes from Kuala Lumpur Tenpin Bowling Association president Tan Sri Mohd Noor Abd Rahim.
Sabah Tenpin Bowling Association president Rozzainnysham Talip congratulated the two players and urged them to continue training in preparation for the 23rd Storm U25 International Allstar Championship at Sunway Megalanes Pyramid Selangor from December 6-14 and the 49th International Penang Pesta Championships 2023 from December 14-22.
