
SANDAKAN: Two family members – a teenage girl and her adolescent brother in law – drowned while bathing in an abandoned fish pond in Kg Batu Putih, Jalan Sungai Kayu, on Wednesday morning.
The dead were Amira binti Rolan, 19, and Muhamad bin Awira, 10. Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said the incident happened around 10am.
“The two along with four other family members were bathing in the pool when it happened.
The victims were taken out of the pool by villagers and unconscious when taken to the Duchess of Kent Hospital by the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department,” he said.
