A two-storey terrace house in Alam Damai was completely destroyed in an early morning fire believed to have started while an EV was being charged.

PETALING JAYA: A two-storey terrace house in Alam Damai was completely destroyed in a fire early yesterday, which was believed to have been caused by an electric vehicle (EV) being charged.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 5.03am before deploying firefighters to the scene.

“When firefighters arrived, they found that a two-storey terrace house was on fire, with the damage estimated at 100%.

“The fire is believed to have started from an EV that was being charged in the front area of the house,” he reportedly said in a statement today.

He said no injuries were reported and the operation was fully concluded at 6.41am.

A total of 22 firefighters from the Cheras, Sungai Besi and Bandar Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Stations were deployed for the operation.
