Two teens killed in Johor highway crash

Two teenagers died and another was seriously injured after their car skidded and hit a concrete embankment on the Iskandar Sultan Highway early this morning.

JOHOR BAHRU: Two teenagers were killed and another seriously injured after the Perodua Ativa they were in skidded and hit a concrete embankment along Kilometre 14 of Lebuhraya Iskandar Sultan early this morning.

North Johor Bahru district police chief ACP Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said they received word of the crash that killed both the car driver, a boy, 19, and the front passenger, a girl, 16, at about 4.25 am,

“The car was on its way from Johor Bahru to Tampol when it lost control and skidded and hit the concrete embankment on the left side of the road,” he said in a statement today.

He said both the driver and the front passenger suffered serious injuries to the head and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, while the back passenger, aged 18, sufferent serious injuries to his left and right arm and is currently being treated at Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said, as he urged those with information on the crash to contact investigating officer, Insp Zulhisyam Aziz at 019-7432966 to assist investigations.
