A stolen Land Rover Defender reversed over and on top of a police car while two officers were sat inside.

During a late-night patrol in Barnet, London on 24 January, officers tracked down the car, matching the description of a stolen vehicle nearby.

The suspect turned into a narrow road and suddenly stopped, before reversing the two‑tonne Defender at speed over the police car's bonnet, crushing the roof and shattering the windscreen.

The Land Rover flipped onto its side and the driver fled the scene. Following a brief foot chase, the suspect was tasered and arrested.
