POLICE have arrested two women suspected of impersonating representatives of a former police officers’ association to solicit cash donations from the public in Hulu Selangor on Monday.

District police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Husin said officers received a report at about 5.50pm from a scrap metal trader who claimed that the two women had approached him, requesting a RM1,000 donation purportedly on behalf of the association.

“Acting on the information, a team from the Hulu Selangor District Police Headquarters successfully detained two women, aged 23 and 37, believed to be involved in the activity,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

During the arrest, police seized several items, including a Perodua Myvi, six receipt books, 15 documents, nine files bearing the name of a welfare association, two silver necklaces, and RM550 in cash.

Ibrahim said both suspects tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal or narcotics records.

“They are currently under remand for investigation under Section 419 of the Penal Code for cheating by impersonation, and Section 3(3) of the House-to-House and Street Collections Act 1947,” he added. - November 4, 2025
