SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Magistrate’s Court fined a local woman, Zuraini Mohd Zaini, 26, RM1,800 or three months in jail in default, after she pleaded guilty to engaging in prostitution. She paid the fine.
Meanwhile, the Sessions Court sentenced a 50-year-old foreign woman, Lely Fiter, to three years in prison for acting as a middleperson to secure clients for Zuraini. She will be deported after serving her sentence.
Both were arrested during a police raid on July 29 at an apartment in Batu 5, Sandakan. The duo charged RM150 per service, with RM100 going to Zuraini and RM50 to Lely for finding clients. Items seized included an opened condom packet, a used condom, used tissue, a mobile phone, and RM150 in cash.
