  • Robinson's grandmother, Debbie Robinson, has publicly defended him in an interview with the Daily Mail, claiming he is a “very shy, good kid” and there is “no way he could be violent.”
  • She has “never” heard him discuss politics, she said, despite his father’s support of President Donald Trump.
  • Her grandson does not own a gun or enjoy hunting, she said, and she does not think he could have been “that good of a shot” to hit Kirk from more than 100 meters away.
  • Utah Governor Spencer Cox said that Robinson had previously expressed a strong dislike for Kirk and his views to a family member, and he had become “more political” in recent months.
