MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Domeng is expected to bring more rain as it continues to move north-northwestward over the sea east of Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 150 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Sunday.
Weather specialist Veronica Torres said the typhoon’s trough or extension has been bringing overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Central Luzon, Cagayan, and Isabela.
“Domeng will continue to intensify until it reaches its peak intensity. Afterwards, it will steadily weaken but will remain as a typhoon throughout the forecast period,” Torres said.
Typhoon Domeng is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon locally known as habagat will prevail in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao where cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
