Kota Kinabalu: A Perodua Myvi owner was shocked after discovering his rear tyres missing, believed stolen, while parked at the Sabah Women and Children Hospital in Likas on Thursday.

The theft was discovered around 5.17pm, leaving the vehicle stranded in the hospital car park.

This is the second such incident to occur at the medical facility, raising serious concerns about security measures in the area.

The repeated thefts have prompted worried members of the public to call for immediate action to improve security at the hospital premises.

They said patients and their families should not have to worry about their vehicles being vandalised while seeking medical treatment.

“Patients come here for medical care and they should not have to deal with this kind of stress,” said a concerned visitor.

“Something needs to be done before this becomes a regular occurrence,” he said.

The public is urging authorities to implement better security measures and calling on police to increase patrols around the hospital car park to deter future incidents.

With two similar cases now reported, there are growing fears that the hospital car park may be becoming a target for opportunistic thieves who prey on vehicles belonging to patients and visitors during vulnerable times.
