LAHAD DATU: Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin graced the handing over of haemodialysis equipment contributed by Yayasan Petronas to the Dialysis Unit of the Tungku Health Clinic, here, Tuesday.

The ceremony was also attended Juhar’s consort Toh Puan Norlidah Jasni.

The equipment, consisting of two haemodialysis machines, a dialyser reprocessor and a reverse osmosis system, are part of Yayasan Petronas’ effort to boost the capacity of existing facilities catering to patients with renal ailments, especially those in remote areas in the State.

Under the initiative, the foundation contributed a total of 10 haemodialysis machines, including six for Tenom Hospital and two each for Tungku Health Clinic and Beaufort Hospital.

Yayasan Petronas Chief Executive Officer Shariah Nelly Francis said the contribution was an extension to the foundation’s ongoing collaboration with the State Government through the Social Welfare Department (JPKA) under the Uplifting Lives programme.

“I hope through this effort, we can complement the capacity of the existing haemodialysis centres in those districts, and I would like to thank JPKA for this collaborative effort.

“These are not just equipment, they represent our hope and our support for the communities in need,” Shariah said.

Earlier on during the event, Shariah handed over the equipment to Sabah Health Director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna.
